I've always spent a lot of time outdoors, watching birds and squirrels, stumbling across deer, standing still while something interesting happens nearby. For years I tried snapping with my phone camera, but that never came close to what I was actually looking at.

That changed when I watched the movie Le Chant des forêts. Seeing nature captured with that kind of intention and care made me feel the urge to hold onto these moments, too. For a future that might not get to experience them firsthand.

So I got proper gear: a Nikon Z6III with a Tamron 150-500mm for wildlife, and a Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 for when I want to travel light. It finally feels like I'm doing the moment justice.

I do all processing in Darktable, and publish the best shots on 📷 grain.social.
